    The short version: We collect only what's necessary to run your recipe library. We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and you can delete your account at any time.
  

1. Who We Are

Recipe Library ("we", "us", "our") is a personal meal planning and recipe management application. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service at cowpushing-meals.netlify.app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to provide the service:

Account information — your email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text), or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google.
Recipe data — recipes, ingredients, meal plans, and notes you create or save within the app.
Usage data — basic logs of requests to our servers (standard web server logs), retained for up to 30 days for debugging purposes.

We do not collect payment information, location data, device fingerprints, or any data beyond what's listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and maintain your session
To store and retrieve your recipes and meal plans
To enable features you opt into, such as Google Calendar integration
To send password reset emails if you request them

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Google Calendar Integration

If you choose to connect Google Calendar, we request permission to read your calendar events and create new meal plan events. This access is used solely to display your schedule and export meal plans. We do not store your calendar data on our servers — it is fetched in real time and displayed only to you.

You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from the planner page, which revokes our access immediately.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using TLS. Row-level security policies ensure that your recipes are only accessible to you (and anyone you explicitly share them with).

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored or transmitted in plain text.

6. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except:

Service providers — Supabase (database), Netlify (hosting), and Google (OAuth and Calendar) as described above. Each operates under their own privacy policies.
Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
With your permission — if you use the sharing features to share recipes or library access with other users, only the data you explicitly share will be visible to them.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access all data associated with your account
Export your recipe data at any time
Delete your account and all associated data
Disconnect third-party integrations (Google Calendar, Google Sign-In) at any time

8. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser localStorage to store your authentication session token and app preferences (such as your selected view mode and meal plan). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
